BBC TEACH 2025

1/ Safer Internet Day 2025

BBC Teach has added lots of new resources to coincide with Safer Internet Day 2025 on 11 February. The theme is scams online and how young people can protect themselves, as well as what support is available to them. The new dedicated page now hosts more than 100 resources for both primary and secondary schools covering online safety. There will also be a Live Lesson broadcast at 11am on BBC Teach, CBBC and iPlayer, in which pupils will become players in a new game, Beat the Scammers. The programme will be available to watch on BBC Teach once the broadcast ends.

2/ Burns Night

For anyone planning to mark Burns Night on 25 January, the BBC Teach website has a wealth of themed resources, including a new assembly pack for primary schools. They cover details about the annual celebration, a selection of Burns’ poetry and the Scottish poet’s legacy.

3/ Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust Memorial Day takes place every year on 27 January. Our collection includes both primary and secondary resources. 2025 will mark the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi concentration camp. A new assembly pack will be available for primary school teachers.

4/ Step-by-Step

Teaching dance doesn't require Strictly levels of skill, but it can be useful to have some inspiration. We recently teamed up with leading dance expert, Claire Pring, and One Dance UK to create a dance resource for pupils aged 5 to 14. Our collection has been developed so that it can be used by every teacher, regardless of their knowledge or skill in dance.

Our videos explore dance through a range of topics from plants to Alfred the Great and even action films. There are also audio downloads, downloadable dance frameworks and a comprehensive set of teachers' notes.

5/ Primary Science

For teachers in search of fun and engaging science resources, our Primary Science collection spans a multitude of areas, including perennial favourites such as animals, minibeasts, space and the seasons. Narrated by much-loved TV presenter, Maddie Moate, with expert advice from an array of specialists, children can explore each topic through age-appropriate, clear resources.

6/ BBC Ten Pieces

This year marked the tenth anniversary of BBC Ten Pieces which opens up the world of classical music to 7 to 14 year olds. Its new collection features music written exclusively by women; from Hildegard of Bingen to Laura Shigihara and Errollyn Wallen CBE, Master of the King's Music. Included is everything you need to know about each composer and their piece of music, teaching notes about aspects of the music pupils should listen out for and extensive classroom resources for teachers.

7/ Famous people from history

We’ve expanded this ever-popular resource for pupils aged 5 to 16 that shines a light on the lives of individuals from our past. It features Thomas Barnardo, Rosa Parks and Mahatma Gandhi to name but a few. Every resource in the collection also includes extensive teacher notes.

8/ Assembly resources

Our assembly resources for primary schools continue to be popular. Each resource includes ideas for introducing the theme, a video and questions for discussion.
